Equality of Opportunity is nothing less than the ideal upon which this country is built. The American Dream is not every person for themselves, nor is it everyone gets a pony, but rather it is the idea that any person can raise themselves up to the highest station by virtue of their own hard work.
Sadly, that dream is failing.
Sure, there are still success stories, but for every Steve Jobs or Barack Obama, there are countless others who never came close to their full potential because they lacked even the basic opportunity to do so. This is not a liberal or conservative issue, but an American issue. This isn't about our many differences, it is about the vision we collectively share of who we are as a people and a nation. It is about whether we can set aside our differences to fight for the continued survival of the American Dream.
In the coming months, we will explore in-depth the following questions:
What would true Equality of Opportunity entail?
What are the impediments in place which prevent genuine Equality of Opportunity?
What must be done to overcome those impediments so that Equality of Opportunity can become a reality for most Americans?
Currently abroad completing work on his first novel, Mr. Peters has already outlined the first several episodes in anticipation of the podcast's launch. The goal will be to take ideas, both new & existing, and use a value system centered around Equality of Opportunity to develop a cohesive policy framework capable of meeting America's 21st Century challenges. It will simultaneously explore and develop strategies for implementation in the face of resistance from entrenched special interests and a subservient government.
The Equality of Opportunity Podcast will launch in mid-late March of 2017.
