Flip The Lens Day is a chance to turn our critical lens inward and take a selfie for the soul; a moment to gain some self-awareness and empathy. So much of what is being said & done right now is motivated by fear and anxiety:
~ Racism (Fear of others; Fear of loss)
~ Black Lives Matter Protests (Fear of physical harm or death; Fear of a power structure not upholding it's end of the social contract & seems rigged against certain races/classes)
~ Anti-Closure Protests (Fear of Financial loss or ruin; Anxiety of government authoritarianism)
~ Pro-Closure Advocates (Fear of Disease and Death; Anxiety over ability of health-care system to handle a huge influx of cases)
Change starts with ourselves. On June 9th, we invite you to take the first step in being the change you want to see in the world and Flip The Lens.

How It Works
On June 9th, ask yourself the following:
1. Could criticisms you have made of others, especially any frequently repeated, be applied to you as well?
2. Have you ever dismissed criticisms others have made about you, especially if repeated, without any consideration?
Could any be valid? …even in some small way? If so, why were you so dismissive initially?
This next part is optional (No one should skip the first two steps for fear of the third)
3. Talk about what you learned with three other people. One should be somebody with whom you rarely agree.
(If possible, have them ‘Flip The Lens’ before your conversation as well)
Note: Set up any guidelines necessary to ensure a positive, productive conversation
(Safe words, time limits to speak without interruption, etc.)
4. Celebrate the Growth You Have Achieved!
Then, on June 10th, let's all try to be a little more empathetic and tolerant, remembering no one is perfect, and that fear & stress motivates everything being said and done right now.
